Cisco ACI 4.2 contains a number of new features and enhancements. In this guide, we will go over the process of upgrading a Cisco ACI environment from version 4.1(1i) to 4.2(1i).

We will first need to download the upgrade files from Cisco.com. Once we have the files, we will need to copy them to the bootflash of the APICs. We will then need to put the APICs into maintenance mode and reboot them.

Once the APICs are back up, we will need to upgrade the fabric nodes. We will do this by putting the nodes into maintenance mode and then running the upgrade script.

Once the nodes are upgraded, we can take the APICs out of maintenance mode.

The entire process should take about 30-45 minutes.
